May iPhone Developers' Meetup

Tuesday, 20 May 2008

Thanks everyone for another great meetup. Michael Mace hit it out of the park with an incredibly informative and interactive presentation in front of a probing audience: I’m sure everyone lost count of the questions he was asked, and they all seemed to fit the flow of his presentation. Great presentation, great audience.

From the announcements, here is my list of important events for iPhone developers in the SF Bay area:

  • NSCoder Nights
Every Tuesday night, Orchard Valley Coffee in Campbell
  • WWDC
June 9-13, San Francisco. Sold out!
  • iPhone coding nights
Non-meetup Monday nights, Red Rock Cafe, Mountain View
We’re skipping May 26 (Memorial Day) and resuming June 2

I showed contact information for an editor looking for reviewers and authors for iPhone books. If you want that, send me message through the meetup group and I’ll send it to you.

It was also great to have Danny, John, and Clayton show their work in progress and get so much feedback and questioning from the audience. I’m looking forward to doing a lot more of this in the future.

Finally, thanks to everyone who pitched in with donations to help with the cost of the meetup. Last night’s donations covered about half of our rent, and for our second meetup, I think that’s terrific.

Looking forward

I’ve met several people who are starting companies around iPhone development. I’d like to showcase these companies at a future meetup and give each 15-20 minutes to present themselves, what they’ve accomplished so far, and where they hope to go. Email me or send me a message through the group if you’d like to participate.
